My name is Paul J. Austin, A.K.A Paul Tyner. I was born May 16, in Columbus, Georgia; from two loving, caring, incompatible, remarkable and benevolent parents: Mr. Claude W. Austin Jr., and Mrs. Louise Tyner-Austin!!! Moreover, my parents and grandparents frequently impressed upon my mind that I should finish school and go to college to embark upon the course of becoming an attorney. Consequently, at age 14 my cousin James who was 25 years old hoodwinked me to start selling drugs. Moreover, the inevitable, I dropped out of school. I told cousin James to hell with you and from this day forward I will start selling drugs for myself and with that I won't share the profit with no got damn body other than myself.

         On the morning of July, 25, 1981 the cops came to my house and arrested me and they refused to tell me what the charges were. Moreover, during the interrogation process at the police headquarters I was told that I was arrested for two counts of sexual assault. The mockery trial started in September of 1981, and the court appointed, public pretender lawyer, failed to subpoena my alibi witnesses, whose testimony would have put me among them as opposed to the crime scene!!! The public pretender lawyer also failed to abreast the judge and jury that one of the states witnesses told the police in her original statement that the perpetrator is dark complexion and the other ones said that the perpetrator is light complexion!!! However, I am light complexion. They both stressed that the perpetrator had a handkerchief tied around his nose and mouth and was wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes and a t-shirt; clothes that i did not wear. Believe it or not, but on September 23, 1981, I was convicted and immediately sentenced to two life sentences!

          The Georgia Innocence Project took my case in 2008, and after serving 35 years, my case was overturned in 2015, and subsequently dismissed and i was released on June 11, 2016. There is so much more to this story, but this was only intended to give a synopsis! I wrote three books and they are self-published.
